Woman dragged following Somerville crash

Last night at about 8:00 p.m., a Cambridge woman was dragged by another vehicle following a crash in Somerville.

Preliminary investigation by Trooper Benjamin Zahner indicates that a collision occurred between a 2011 Honda Civic and a 2010 Jeep Patriot on Route 16 East, west of Boston Ave. in Somerville. Following that collision, the operator of the Honda, a 23-year-old Cambridge woman, approached the operator of the Jeep, a 35-year-old Malden man, at his vehicle. During that encounter, the operator of the Jeep took-off, with the woman attached to his vehicle.

The woman was dragged approximately ΒΌ of a mile before she broke free from the vehicle, in the area of the Whole Foods market on Route 16 in Medford. The woman was transported by ambulance to Boston Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

The driver of the Jeep subsequently walked into the Medford barracks and spoke with investigators.

This crash remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.
