Woman accidentally drives Jeep off of Ned’s Point into the water

At 10:42 AM, The police department received a 911 call reporting a Jeep had driven off of Ned’s Point into the water. Officers were dispatched to Ned’s Point. On arrival, they found a Jeep Cherokee in the water. A male and female were standing on the rocks in close proximity to the vehicle. There was no one in the vehicle at this time. Officers learned from the 19-year old female and 21 year old male that the female was the operator of the vehicle and sole occupant of the vehicle when she drove off the road, over the rocks, and into the water.

The female operator was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. She was issued a citation for the charge of Operating to Endanger and Speed greater than reasonable.

Ned’s Point Lighthouse is a park/recreational area, frequently occupied by runners, bicyclists, walkers and children.
The vehicle was lifted from the water by a heavy duty tow truck.
