New Bedford Wellness Initiative teams up with Physicians to Prevent Opioid Abuse for wellness walk on the opioid issue

New Bedford Wellness Initiative in partnership with the Physicians to Prevent Opioid Abuse, the Nurses to Prevent Opioid Abuse and the City of New Bedford’s Public Health Department to offer free community walk and health fair. This public event is to take place on Saturday, June 11, 2016 from 10 am to 1 pm at Buttonwood Park in New Bedford.

This family event is being held to help bring more awareness to the opioid crisis. “We will turn the tide on this crisis in our community with hope and compassion.” Dr. Michael Rocha.

The event kicks off with a walk around Buttonwood Park. Walkers should meet at the entrance of the Buttonwood Park Zoo at 10 am. Lunch and activities will be provided following the walk, including the Life Skills Program for kids with Tim Donahue, speakers on the current opioid crisis, resource tables, free t-shirts, art, music entertainment and more.
