Weekend storm to impact Massachusetts with cold air and precipitation

It seems that every January, Massachusetts gets an uncharacteristically warm period lasting a day or two followed by a return to cold and then a snow event.

This year will be no different with the arrival of a cold front accompanied with dry air on Friday with temperatures dropping into the single digits overnight. Snow – likely heavy at times – will begin late on Saturday accumulating to just under an inch before “warming” up into the low to mid-30s.

What will make this weather event particularly hazardous is that the snow will turn into a messy ice and rain mix by evening and continue through Sunday early afternoon.
