On the evening of Saturday, February 23rd, Wareham Police and EMS were dispatched to a reported overdose.

A Wareham Police Officer was the first to arrive and found a male unresponsive with another male attempting life-saving measures. The officer took over patient care and administered Narcan to the individual, however, he began to feel dizzy and disoriented. A second ambulance was summoned to the scene and the officer was transported to Tobey Hospital.

It appears that during the course of the emergency, he was most likely exposed to fentanyl particles in the air. After treatment by emergency room staff, the officer was released. In addition to the police officer, two other individuals were transported to Tobey Hospital for treatment from that scene. This particular incident was the third overdose call on Saturday.
