UPDATED-State Police Investigating Fatal Crash in Marion

The deceased victim in the below crash is identified as Fredwilson Dossantos, 23, of New Bedford. Preliminary investigation indicates he was a passenger in the 2006 Ford Econoline van. The other four victims — the van’s driver and three other passengers — are also males from New Bedford. All suffered injuries of varying degree; one of them, a 27-year-old who was ultimately airlifted to Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston after being transported by ambulance to Tobey Hospital in Wareham, suffered serious injuries.

The other vehicle involved in the crash, a 2005 Ford F150 pickup, was operated by a 33-year-old New Bedford man. He was not injured.

The crash remains under investigation by Troop D of the Massachusetts State Police, with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section, the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, and the State Police Detective Unit for Plymouth County. No further information is being released at this time.

ORIGINAL RELEASE, Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015:

This morning, at about 6:45 a.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Bourne responded to a report of two vehicle crash rollover on Route 195 East west of exit 20 in Marion. Preliminary investigation by Trooper Antone Pereira indicates that a 2006 Ford Econovan was traveling east on Route 195, when for reasons still under investigation, lost control and rolled over, resulting in a fatality.

One man in the van is deceased from his injuries. Three other male victims were transported to a Rhode Island Hospital for treatment of injuries as a result of the crash. A fourth victim was transported to Tobey Hospital in Wareham but later transported via Med Flight to a Boston hospital.

The other vehicle involved was a Ford pickup truck.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing; the identities of the victims will not be released at this time.

The left travel lane of Route 195 eastbound was closed for approximately an hour and a half for the crash investigation. State Police were assisted by members of the Massachusetts State Police Crime Scene Services Section and Collison Analysis and Reconstruction Section, Marion Fire and EMS, and Mass DOT.
