Volunteers are needed for United Way of Greater New Bedford’s Annual Day of Caring! This event brings together individuals from the community to volunteer their time and talents to help local non-profits.

This year’s Day of Caring will be held on Friday, September 11th in conjunction with the National Day of Service and Remembrance. Volunteers will help from 9am until 2pm. Lunch will provided by each site and all volunteers will receive a t-shirt.

“The United Way Day of Caring has provided NorthStar Learning Centers with volunteers that have used their expertise to build a raised garden bed and sanded and painted a playground wooden structure at one of our centers. Volunteers have spent time in the classrooms reading to children and gaining insight to the early education field, “stated Marlene Barros, Director of Early Education & After School Programs at NorthStar. “We appreciate the volunteers for their time and talents. As a non-profit agency these projects and repairs would be an additional cost to the agency.”

Volunteers are needed to complete a variety of projects ranging from landscaping and organizing to working with children and working on a farm. Those interested in volunteering are able to choose where they want to volunteer by visiting www.volunteersouthcoast.org and click on “UWGNB Day of Caring.”

Day of Caring is sponsored by BayCoast Bank, Bristol County Savings Bank, Sylvia Group of Insurance Agencies, and First Citizens’ Federal Credit Union
