Two women in serious condition after hitting parked car and tree on Brock Ave.

Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident which occurred in the area of 790 Brock Avenue. The accident was reported early this morning around 2:00am. Officers found a vehicle that had struck a tree in the area of 790 Brock Avenue.

Prior to striking the tree the vehicle struck a parked car in front of 766 Brock Avenue. Damage was also done to a street sign, fence and bushes near the 790 Brock Avenue address.

Both the driver and passenger were extricated from the vehicle by New Bedford Fire fighters. The driver, a 31-year old New Bedford woman was transported to Rhode Island Hospital. The passenger, a 33-year old Easton woman was also transported to Rhode Island Hospital. Both have serious injuries.

Witnesses say the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed before the collisions occurred. The accident remains under investigation by our accident reconstruction team and charges will more than likely be forthcoming.
