On Saturday, November 17, at about 7:30 p.m., Wareham Police, along with multiple emergency agencies responded to the railroad tracks near Minot Avenue for the report of two pedestrians struck by a train.

At the scene, officers discovered the two individuals had died as a result of the accident. The chartered train had over 300 people on board and there was concern that they would have to be shuttled from the area. As a result the school department was contacted and responded to the scene with multiple busses.

Ultimately, the train was able to be taken back to its starting point and the busses were not needed. The incident does not appear suspicious and is under investigation by the Massachusetts State Police assigned to District Attorney Timothy Cruz’s office, Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority Police, and the Wareham Police Department.
