Two men arrested in Holyoke with 790 bags of heroin, bail set at $540

Last night, approximately 10:00 p.m., Trooper Theodore Tudryn of the State Police B Troop CAT team stopped a Chevrolet Cavalier on Interstate 91 Northbound near the 16.4 mile-marker in Holyoke for motor vehicle violations.

As a result of an investigation, with the assistance of Troopers Polinski, Murphy and Mielke, the driver of the vehicle a 19-year old man and a passenger a 25-year old man, both from Springfield Vermont were found to be in possession of 790 bags of suspected heroin. Both were placed under arrest and brought to the Northampton Barracks for booking.

The driver was issued a civil citation for a motor vehicle offense and charged criminally with the following:

1. Trafficking in Heroin/Morphine/Opium
2. Conspiracy to violate drug laws
3. Operating with Suspended License
4. Number plate Violation

The passenger was issued a civil citation for a motor vehicle offense and charged criminally with the following:

1. Trafficking in Heroin/Morphine/Opium
2. Failure to Wear Seat Belt

Both were held on $540 bail, and transported to Hampshire County House of Correction pending arraignment at District Court.
