Two men arrested for transporting 36 grams of fentanyl in New Bedford

Two Rhode Island men were charged by New Bedford police with trafficking in fentanyl over 36 grams and conspiracy to violate drug laws after an investigation into a fentanyl distribution service after their vehicle was stopped at 12:01 p.m on Friday.

Francisco Ruiz-Franco, 21, of 125 Stanwood St. Apt. 3, Providence, R.I. and Gabri Javier Delapaz, 25, of 129 Summer St. Apt. 2, Central Falls, R.I., were traveling in a vehicle near 700 Kempton St. when they were stopped by police.

Police found 39 plastic bags of fentanyl on Delapaz and two plastic bags filled with fentanyl on Ruiz-Franco. Police also found plastic bags and a digital scale in the vehicle and $349 on the two men.
