Two arrested in Fairhaven for breaking into motor vehicles

Fairhaven Police arrested two suspects Tuesday night after they were caught breaking into unlocked motor vehicles. Eighteen year old Brandon Pimental of Fairhaven was arrested along with a 17 year old juvenile by police in the area of Adams Street and Bellevue Avenue.

A witness reported seeing Pimental entering an unlocked Dodge Caravan on Francis Street while the juvenile stood watch. Pimental walked away from the vehicle after being confronted by the witness, who provided a description of him to police. Pimental and his accomplice were found a short time later by Officer Andrew Quintin walking on Adams Street.

The suspects were found to be in possession of loose change, tanning lotion and two pairs of headphones. Further investigation revealed the pair broke into two vehicles and admitted to breaking into a third vehicle on Castle Avenue. All three vehicles were unlocked at the time of the breaks. Pimental and his juvenile accomplice were charged with two counts of breaking into a motor vehicle, two counts of larceny under $250 and disturbing the peace. Both were arraigned Wednesday morning in Third District Court. Police are strongly urging people to remove all valuables from their vehicles and to properly lock them.
