On Saturday, at 9:15 a.m. Wareham Police were advised to be on the lookout for a vehicle involved in a shoplifting incident at the CVS in Bourne.

A short while later Officer Christopher Smith observed the vehicle on Cranberry Highway, near Main Avenue. Officer Smith activated his lights and attempted to pull the vehicle over, however it quickly pulled into Garden Homes East.

At that time the car stopped and the female driver jumped out, yelled something at the officer, while the passenger moved into the driver’s seat. The female who had jumped out of the car tried to tell the officer she was not driving, however, Officer Smith had seen her operating the car and determined that she had a suspended driver’s license.

Amanda Felix, 33, of East Wareham was placed under arrest for operating after suspension. A male in the back seat of the car, Johnny Cortez, 48, Cambridge was also placed in custody after it was determined that he had an active warrant. Officer Zina Kelsch assisted with the arrests.

A Bourne Police officer arrived on the scene to obtain information for possible charges to be filed in their town, and the stolen merchandise was recovered in the vehicle.

Both Felix and Cortez were transported to Wareham police headquarters for processing.

  1. Minor offenses. CVS needs to stop them at the door. Those officers are out of control. Arresting the female for driving ans shoplifting. Damn
