The New Bedford Symphony Orchestra centennial celebration continues with the second half of the 2015-16 season. With only three performances remaining this season, music lovers have one last chance to save on ticket prices by subscribing to the final three concerts before February 20.

Join us on February 20 for Britten, Schumann & Mussorgsky with guest artist Carter Brey. The NBSO will perform three blockbuster works, including Britten’s haunting Four Sea Interludes and Mussorgsky’s colorful Pictures at an Exhibition. Mr. Brey is featured in Schumann’s formidable Cello Concerto in A Minor. Concert sponsor is BayCoast Bank.

Then on April 9, guest artists Jean-Efflam Bavouzet and Andrea Bavouzet join the NBSO for Poulenc, Ravel & Tchaikovsky. Poulenc’s charming Concerto for Two Pianos in D Minor features both pianists, while Mr. Bavouzet performs Ravel’s Concerto for the Left Hand, a tour de force that showcases the extraordinary—and exclusive—use of the left hand. Closing out the program is one of Tchaikovsky’s most loved works, his Symphony No. 5. Concert sponsor is the Sylvia Group.

On May 14, the centennial season comes to a close with Bernstein & Beethoven. Featuring Karen Slack, Abigail Fischer, Yeghishe Manucharyan, David Kravitz, and the Back Bay Chorale, the NBSO will perform Bernstein’s vibrant Chichester Psalms and bring the season to a close with Beethoven’s great Symphony No. 9. Concert sponsors are Whaling City Sound and Coldwell Banker︱Wendy Cullum & MaryAnn Hayes.

All three performances with take place at 7:30pm at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in downtown New Bedford. The theater is fully handicap accessible. Today, the NBSO is a superb professional orchestra that performs with internationally renowned guest artists, annually presenting a 7-concert series of classical and pops music and a 4-concert chamber music series, as well as providing nationally recognized educational programs for the children of South Coast.
