Temporary New Bedford Emergency Shelter Needs Volunteers, Donations

Mercy Meals and More received ” the call” and the temporary emergency shelter will be open tonight, Saturday, February 15th at 5 p.m. so people can come out of the cold. They will remain open through the weekend into Monday morning.

The temporary shelter is looking for volunteers, one male and one female per shift. The shifts are:

  • Saturday: 5 p.m. to 12 a.m.,
  • Sunday: 12 a.m. to 7 a.m., 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., 8 p.m. to 2 a.m.
  • Monday: 2 a.m. to 6:30/7 a.m.

They also need supplies such as fresh fruit, soups, sandwich meats, cheese, yogurt, pudding cups, milk or powdered creamer, sugar, hot coco, small plates, 7 ounce cold cups or canned soda, 8 ounce Styrofoam cups and toilet paper.
