The Team Noah Foundation was founded in honor of Noah Fernandes. In 2006, Noah was diagnosed with M.E.L.A.S. – a progressive and degenerative mitochondrial disease. One of our goals will be to help fund research for The United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF) in hopes of one day finding a cure.
Only one year after his diagnosis, Noah began attending The Schwartz Center for Children, where he received physical, occupational, speech and aquatic therapies. We want to help fill in the gaps where insurances and government funds fail. We want to ensure that no child is left without the proper equipment they need whether it’s audio/visual, wheelchairs, walkers, etc. With your help, we will make the lives of these inspirational and courageous children and their families much easier!
The 2nd Annual Wine Tasting will be held on February 28th at the United Fishermans Club at 639 Orchard St, New Bedford. 100% of all proceeds are to benefit area children and families affected by disabilities and/or Mitochondrial Disease like Noah has. 600+ tickets were sold last year and enabled us to purchase a handicap van for the Schwartz Center for Children where Noah was a student until 2 yrs ago.
