Taunton man gets 5-7 years in State prison for stealing $68 from Dollar Tree

Goldie Vorce, 47 years old of Taunton, was sentenced on November 26, 2018 in the Fall River Superior Court for robbing a Dollar Tree Store clerk in Taunton, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.

On June 5, 2018, the defendant, Goldie Vorce entered the Taunton Dollar Tree Store just after 8:00 pm and ordered the clerk to open the register drawer threatening that he possessed a knife. Once the drawer was open the defendant grabbed $68.00 and fled the store on foot. Surveillance video captured the incident. The defendant was located by Taunton police and he agreed to speak to police. The defendant admitted his involvement although denied he had a knife at the time of the incident.

The Commonwealth, represented by Assistant District Attorney Stephen Nadeau, along with the defendant, recommended a 5 to 7 year state prison sentence. This sentence was adopted by the court and imposed by Judge Mark Hallal.

“This is a defendant with a criminal history who does not belong on the street,” District Attorney Quinn said.
