Last week, members of the Southeastern Massachusetts Gang Task Force, which is comprised of state police, local police, and members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, along with state police assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office, executed a search warrant for firearms and narcotics on Belmont Ave. in Brockton. As a result of the search, police seized five firearms including an AR-15 Assault Rifle with a high capacity magazine, a loaded Smith and Wesson .357 Magnum revolver, a Ruger .22 caliber, modified short rifle with a loaded, high capacity magazine, a Bryco Arms 9mm semiautomatic handgun, and a loaded Smith and Wesson .32 caliber revolver.
In addition to the guns, task force members also seized more than $6,000.00 in United States currency, a large quantity of marijuana and related equipment used for its processing and distribution.
As a result of the investigation, JOSEPH MARTINEZ, 32, of Brockton was arrested on the following charges: 1. Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (subsequent offense) 2. Unlawful Possession of Ammunition 3. Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device 4. Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Substance
Also arrested was AMY PAYNE, 28, of Brockton for Possession with Intent to Distribute a Class D Substance.
MARTINEZ and PAYNE were both booked at the Brockton Police Department and subsequently arraigned in Brockton District Court.
