Suspect of Wednesday morning Freetown murder found hiding in shed

The Freetown Police Department, in close cooperation with the Massachusetts State Police and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, is currently conducting an investigation at a crime scene situated along Chace Road in East Freetown.

According to multiple reports, police responded to 92 Chase Road just before 4:30 a.m. A deceased female victim identified as 44-year-old Heidi Chace of 92 Chace Road was found at the scene.

According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office the suspect, 54-year-old Matthew Lucas, lived at that same address. At about 8:40 this morning, state and local police located the suspect hiding in a shed on Burns Lane in Freetown.

Police remained on the scene into the afternoon collecting evidence and removing animals from the property. This is a developing story and we will release an updated article as soon new information is made public.
