Suspect in Massachusetts catalytic converter theft ring pleads guilty in federal court

“Remember “Operation Cut and Run,” the investigation and take down, this past April, of seven men involved in a criminal network that stole catalytic converters from more than 470 vehicles in Massachusetts and New Hampshire over the last two years?

One of the men charged in that investigation, JOSE “GOLDY TECH” TORRES, 37, of Springfield, pled guilty last week in federal court and will be sentenced in September. Prosecutions of the other six defendants are ongoing. “Operation Cut and Run” was a massive joint investigation that ultimately involved more than 70 law enforcement agencies.

The Massachusetts State Police Division of Homeland Security and its Fusion Center coordinated the wide-ranging investigation. This photo shows some of the stolen catalytic converters recovered during the arrests of the defendants.”-Massachusetts State Police.
