A Picture History of New Bedford: Volume Two is the second of three volumes that tells the history of New Bedford in words and photographs. Volume Two is a 360-page, beautifully-designed, large-format book with more than 1,200 images of New Bedford.

Spinner is implementing a fundraising drive through the Kickstarter crowdfunding website to raise $10,000 toward the publishing of A Picture History of New Bedford: Volume Two ~ 1925-1980. Individual donors will receive rewards such as signed and numbered books, listing in the front of the book with other donors and acknowledgement on social media.

Donations to the crowdfunding campaign will go directly to the finishing costs of Volume Two and help Spinner deliver a product with rich editorial content and quality construction.

Readers will learn about their ancestors and the major events that shaped the city, re-visit the New Bedford of their youth and come to know the city as their parents and grandparents experienced it.

Engaging narratives and thrilling imagery document small happenings as well as watershed events such as the Great Depression, Prohibition, the WPA, the Textile Strike of 1928, the great hurricanes and urban renewal. Spinner’s team of editors chronicle the story of transportation via railroads, streetcars, automobiles, buses and ships. Small businesses and big industries are recounted. Meet an eclectic mix of characters such as inventors, industrialists, civic leaders, athletes, artists and merchants.
