Summer concerts on the New Bedford waterfront (July/August)

Mayor Jon Mitchell announced that the City will again host a series of summer concerts on the New Bedford waterfront during the summer months of July and August.

The Summer Sound Series will feature live musical entertainment on Pier 3 in Downtown New Bedford. Residents and visitors will dance to live music, enjoy beverages available for purchase, and relax along New Bedford’s beautiful working waterfront.

Summer Sound Series will consist of six waterfront concerts. The first concert of the series will be Friday, July 10th from 6pm to 8pm. Remaining concert dates include: July 17th, July 24th, July 31st , August 7th, August 14th, rain dates for cancelled performances are August 21st * August 28th.

Mayor Mitchell said the city’s efforts to reconnected the vibrant downtown with the waterfront have been embraced by the community and visitors alike: “We have had great success since we started the Summer Sound Series three years ago. So I invite everyone to come to the New Bedford waterfront at the end of the work week to unwind, have some ice cream or lemonade at our new ice cream shack on Pier 3, and enjoy live music and good company.”

The public is invited to bring their chairs and enjoy front row seating to performances by the following bands:

Friday, July 10: Joaquin Santos & Friends – Featuring Dennis Taylor
A High Energy R&B band from New England with top notch vocals and seasoned musicians.

Friday, July 17: Headcase
Headcase is Southern New England’s Dance Rock Party Band! With a dynamic sound that features vocal harmonies, keyboards, and tight arrangements we play favorites from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, 2K and today! Headcase brings the Party to You!

Friday, July 24: Brass Force
Brass Force has been rocking the RI MA & CT music scenes for 28 years. After our 10 year run as Christie’s Dock band we’ve continued our mission to provide quality funk at 100’s of venues.

Friday, July 31: Soul Shyne
Band Members: John Ventura, Roy Viera, Steve Askew, Don Hunt, hometown New Bedford, playing Blues, Dance, Classic Rock, Seventies

Friday, August 7: Hot Like Fire
