On Wednesday at approximately 02:44 a.m., a Massachusetts State Police Trooper was stopped at a motor vehicle crash on Route 495 northbound in Raynham when his cruiser was nearly struck by a passing car. The Trooper activated emergency lights in an effort to stop the suspect, who was driving at speeds in excess of 100 MPH. Pursuit of the suspect vehicle was authorized by Troop D headquarters.

The suspect vehicle, a 2007 Honda Accord with a lone occupant, exited Route 495 onto Route 140 in Mansfield, continuing at a very high rate of speed.

The pursuit crossed MSP Troop jurisdictional lines into Troop H, and that Troop’s headquarters seamlessly assumed command and control of the pursuit.

The suspect vehicle turned onto Chauncey Street and into an industrial park, and then turned onto Green Street at approximately 2:50 hrs. We terminated the pursuit at that time.

Several minutes later Troopers from the Foxboro Barracks and Foxboro Police responded to a motor vehicle crash on Cedar Street. Responding Troopers and officers found the Accord that had been the subject of the pursuit had crashed into a telephone pole.

The suspect, a 15-year-old Stoughton boy, was taken into custody and transported to Boston Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries. We recovered a handgun at the scene.

The boy will face criminal charges related to the incident. State Police do not release names of juvenile arrestees.
