UPDATE: State Police Investigate Fatal Crash Involving Ejected Passenger

This morning, at about 3:11 a.m., troopers from the State Police Barracks in Milton responded to a report of a pedestrian struck on Route 24 northbound by exit 20 in the town of Stoughton. Preliminary information collected in the investigation by Trooper Johnathon Nickles indicates that a 1999 Acura was traveling northbound, when for reason still under investigation, crashed causing the passenger of the vehicle to be ejected.

The ejected passenger was then struck by the following six vehicles. A 2005 Lincoln LS, being operated by a 60 year-old male from Brockton; a 2009 Audi Q7, operated by a 45 year-old female from Mattapan; a 2007 Lexus IS250, operated by a 21 year-old male from Brockton; a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, operated by a 36 year-old male from Nashua, NH; a 2009 Toyota Matrix, operated by a 49 year-old female from Middleborough. The occupants of the listed vehicles were not injured. However, the operator a 2008 Ford Fusion, a 28 year old male from Roslindale was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained from the crash.

The identity of the deceased passenger, a 21 year-old male from Brockton, is not being released at this time pending next of kin notification. The cause of the ejection remains under investigation.

The operator of the Acura, a 20-year-old male from Brockton, was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained from the crash. His identity will not be released at this time. Charges for the operator are under investigation.

The northbound side of Route 24 was shut down for several hours for the investigation and was reopened at approximately 8:55 a.m.

The cause of this crash remains under investigation with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section (CARS), the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, the Office of the District Attorney and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

State Police were also assisted on scene by Stoughton Fire and EMS, Stoughton Police, and MassDOT.
