State Police Arrest Man After a Road Rage Incident involving a Firearm on Route 495

At about 3:15 p.m., yesterday State Troopers assigned to the Leominster Barracks responded to reports of person driving a 1998 red Honda Civic fired a firearm at a vehicle traveling south on Route 495 in Littleton. The Honda Civic was observed weaving in and out of traffic while traveling southbound and striking the rear of another vehicle prior to exiting the highway at Exit 27.

As the result of an investigation, responding troopers found the operator; identified as Steven Perez, 27 of Marlboro and the Honda Civic at an apartment complex in Marlboro. A search of the property ensued and with assistance from Sergeant Ray Jones and his K9 Kato, 2 .38 caliber shell casings and a .38 caliber black revolver were located in a bush.

Perez was placed under arrest and transported to the Leominster Barracks where he was booked and charged with the following offenses:

  • A&B w/ Dangerous Weapon
  • Discharge a Firearm near Hwy
  • Carry Firearm w/o License
  • Assault to Murder, Firearm-Armed
  • Unlawful Possession w/o Firearm License
  • Possession of Ammunition w/o FID Card
  • Stolen Property/Refuse Return
  • Receive Stolen Property

Perez was issued a Massachusetts Citation for Leaving the Scene of Property Damage, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Marked Lanes. Perez does not possess a license to carry a firearm in the state of Massachusetts and was held on bail pending his arraignment today in Ayer District Court.
