This morning, the State Police Springfield Barracks received a call reporting a dog had fallen through the ice just off the side of I-291 near exit 3. Trooper Jonathan Blanchard responded to check the area, subsequently locating the frigid pup.

Trooper Blanchard called for Springfield Fire Department to come rescue the dog, which they did. Trooper Blanchard later learned that the dog had been reported missing earlier in the morning.

The dog was reunited with its family. Thank you Trooper Blanchard for locating the dog and to Springfield Fire for bringing him to shore.
