Speeding, unlicensed driver arrested by Massachusetts State Police on gun charges

Around 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, Trooper Spiridon Perdikomatis, assigned to the State Police-Brookfield Barracks, was conducting stationary speed enforcement on Mill Street in Worcester. Trooper Perdikomatis observed a grey Honda Accord sedan travelling 49 miles per hour in a 30 mile per hour zone. The vehicle also had window tint so dark that the inside of the vehicle could not be viewed despite the daylight hours.

Trooper Perdikomatis turned on his cruiser’s blue lights to conduct a traffic stop of the Accord. Trooper Perdikomatis turned on his body worn camera and made contact with the operator informing him of the reason for the stop. The operator, MIGUEL ESCRIBANO, 22, of Worcester immediately made it known that he did not have a valid license, and through discussion it was determined the vehicle was not properly registered. Trooper Perdikomatis tested the tint level of the Accord’s windows and determined that they transmitted only 5% of visible light, far darker than the legal requirement of 35%.

Trooper Perdikomatis informed ESCRIBANO that he would be issued a criminal summons for the traffic violations. Shortly thereafter, ESCRIBANO’s family members arrived on scene to provide ESCRIBANO a ride. Trooper Perdikomatis gave ESCRIBANO his required paperwork and instructions, then permitted him to depart the scene with his family. During a subsequent inventory of the vehicle, Trooper Perdikomatis opened the glove box of the Accord ESCRIBANO was operating and located a Glock 23 handgun with a high capacity magazine inserted into the magazine well. The magazine contained 13 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition.

Upon discovery of the handgun and confirming ESCRIBANO did not possess a license to carry a firearm Trooper Perdikomatis, backed up by Trooper Robert Livingston, made his way to ESCRIBANO’s home of record. A family member placed a call to ESCRIBANO, and he agreed to return to his home and turn himself in to Troopers Perdikomatis and Livingston. A short time later ESCRIBANO was placed into custody in front of the residence without incident.

ESCRIBANO was then transported to the Brookfield Barracks to be booked, photographed, and fingerprinted. He was scheduled to appear in Worcester District Court on the following charges:

1. Possession Of A Large Capacity Firearm;
2. Carrying A Firearm;
3. Possession Of Ammunition Without FID Card;
4. Possession Of A Firearm Without FID Card;
