South Coast Weekend Guide (1-3 April)

The South Coast of Massachusetts has quite an amazing selection of  history, art, architecture and of events going on every weekend. For the purpose of this article, I’m defining the South Coast of Massachusetts as the area from Fall River to Cape Cod. On any given day there are 100’s of events going in this area. Each Friday I plan on showcasing weekend events (Friday through Sunday) from LocalOracle.com that are perfect for all demographics. To have your events promoted submit them for FREE here!

FRIDAY- 1 APRIL

Celtic Coffee House (42 North Water Street) is hosting a Soapbox Social from 7-9 P.M. Visitors can

enjoy a coffee and hear some fascinating local stories. Admission is free and this event is good for all ages!  After enjoying the stories head over to Libad’s with some friends and test your luck on the mechanical bull from 9 P.M. to 1 A.M. If you are looking for some in-house DJs, check out Catwalk and Hibernia starting at 10 P.M. in downtown New Bedford.

SATURDAY – 2 APRIL

Open House at the The Serlingpa Meditation Center from 10 AM - 2 PM.

Those looking to get in shape for the summer should consider a YMCA membership. This Saturday they have Pilates (Wareham) at 7:40 AM, Cardio Challenge (New Bedford) at 9 AM and tons of other healthy activities throughout the weekend.  Unwind from the stresses from life and check out The Serlingpa Meditation Center (512 Pleasant Street, New Bedford) as they are having an Open House from 10 AM to 2 PM.  ArtWorks is hosting Journey Dance (10-11 AM, $15), Saturday Clay Classes (9:30 AM – 12 PM, $23-25), Fairy House workshop (1-3 PM, Free) and the One Passion, Many Voices Exhibit (12-5 PM, Free).  Check out the Winter Exhibit at the New Bedford Art Museum from 12-5 PM. If you are looking for some live music I recommend:

  • 3 PM: Wood for Fire at Rose Alley Ale House (New Bedford)
  • 8 PM: Kenny Richards at Fay’s Restaurant (Dartmouth)
  • 9 PM: Johhny Edwards at the Ice Chest Bar and Grille (Fairhaven)
  • 9:30 PM: Wild Nights at Rose Alley Ale House (New Bedford), Slingshot at Fathoms and Reliable Source at The Candleworks Restaurant – all in New Bedford
  • 10 PM: The Ting & I at No Problemo and Identity Crisis at Knuckleheads Bar – both in New Bedford

SUNDAY – 3 APRIL

Dog Day Sunday at Hibernia Irish Pub from 12-1 PM.

Sundays are perfect days to relax and unwind. Bring your dog to Hibernia Irish Pub for Dog Day Sundays from 12-1 PM. Fins is having a Game Night, Pool and Darts from 4 PM to 2 AM and serving $1 cheese pizzas all day. If you are looking for some live music I recommend:

  • 4 PM: J. Kelley at the Ice Chest Bar and Grille (Fairhaven)
  • 6 PM: Flynn Cohen & Matt Heaton with the Bristol Stompers at The Black Watch Pub and Kenny Richards at Rose Alley Ale House – Both in New Bedford
  • 7 PM: Sunday Jam Sessions at The Pour Farm Tavern (New Bedford)
