Son saves his mother from New Bedford house fire

There was a major fire this morning at a Maryland St. home around 1am. It was completely involved when New Bedford fire fighters arrived.

According to the New Bedford Fire Department, the fire was discovered by the son of the home owner who lives next door. The son entered the home and saved his mother. He found her on the floor of the first floor bathroom and evacuated her from the home. She was transported to hospital. The family cat also escaped unharmed.

The fire was extinguished in approximately 45 minutes. No other injuries to report.
