Last night at approximately 11pm Officer Stanley Chaberek was dispatched to the Kings Highway Plaza regarding two vehicles that were broken into. The suspect was able to smash the windows on the vehicles and steal a couple of wallets. One of the victims was exiting a local business and observed the suspect fleeing from his vehicle on foot towards a wooded area on Church St.
Officer Chaberek stopped the suspect and found him in possession of two wallets and a flashlight. The wallets were returned to the rightful owners. He was also positively identified by the victim as the male seen fleeing his auto.
Scheduled to be arraigned this morning in New Bedford District court; Kyle Veale age 24 of New Bedford.
2 counts of breaking and entering a motor vehicle in the nighttime.
