Seekonk honors and commends Ronald Rickey for two decades of public service

How have your interactions with local New Bedford dispatch been? Emergency dispatchers often go unheralded in spite of the fact that their relaxed demeanor helps calm the caller down so the important details that make a life or death difference, can be conveyed.

Seekonk honors a person who has gone above and beyond in an exemplary way and has helped the community with their emergencies for 20 years. Thomas Ranley sums up the job best: “I am always impressed with Ron’s demeanor and calmness, regardless of the intensity of the situation. He is always a true professional and Seekonk is lucky to have him.”

“It is with honor and privilege that we thank and congratulate Dispatcher Ronald H. Rickey for his 20 years of service to the Town of Seekonk.

Dispatcher Rickey began his career in 1992 as a part-time Dispatcher for the Town and in 1993 became a special police officer with the Police Department. Dispatcher Rickey still holds both of those positions with the Town more than 20 years later. It was 20 years ago today that Dispatcher Rickey became a full-time employee as a critical member of the public safety team.

Dispatcher Rickey has undoubtedly saved countless lives and kept first responders safe. Having worked some of the most difficult calls that this Town has faced, Dispatcher Rickey is and continues to be an irreplaceable asset to the Town.

It is our honor to thank you for your unwavering commitment to the Town of Seekonk and this community.”-Seekonk Public Safety Communications.
