Wellesley Police Department, Fire Department and EMS responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash at the Starbucks on Linden Street, Wellesley.
Upon arrival, it was immediately evident that this wasn’t a typical motor vehicle accident. Embedded into the cafe of the Starbucks was a Jaguar sedan.
“Fortunately no patrons or employees were struck by the vehicle. Occupants of the vehicle transported to a local hospital as a precaution.”-Wellesley Police.
Not only have Massachusetts State Police but police departments around the nation have reported an uptick in cars driving into homes, businesses, crossing double yellow lines and going into the other lane or into the treeline, likely due to people using their cell phones while driving. Something illegal in Massachusetts. The vast majority of these incidents are by solo drivers.
Recently we shared the story of a car that actually landed on the second floor of a house, and in a strange incident a man said that his car drove into the first floor of a building while he wasn’t in it. His version of the story is that he simply pressed the button on his automatic starter and the car drove into the buidling. When police asked him how the car changed gears from park to drive, he had no answers.
