Third part of Whaling Museum’s Sailors’ Series to highlight William I. Koch’s maritime paintings

Natasha Khandekar to present comprehensive overview of William I. Koch’s unpar­alleled collection of maritime paintings at the New Bedford Whaling Museum on April 24

Presentation is the third in the four-part Sailors’ Series spotlighting the America’s Cup

The New Bedford Whaling Museum’s 24th annual Sailors’ Series will continue on Thursday, April 24 at 7 p.m. with a comprehensive presentation led by Natasha Khandekar on William I. Koch’s collection of maritime paintings.

American businessman and 1992 America’s Cup Winner, Koch holds an unparalleled collection of maritime paintings. Experience the masterworks of his collection through a presentation and discussion with Natasha Khandekar, Director and Curator of the William I. Koch Collection.

Before joining Koch’s team, Khandekar worked in the public sector with the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Art Interactive in Cambridge and the J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

Khandekar’s presentation is the third in the four part illustrated lecture series spotlighting the America’s Cup, one of the most challenging and prestigious sailing races in the world. All Sailors’ Series lectures occur at the New Bedford Whaling Museum on Thursday evenings at 7:00 p.m. with a pre-lecture reception at 6:00 p.m. in the Jacobs Family Gallery. The following is a glance at the remaining schedule for the 2014 Sailors’ Series:

  • April 24: Natasha Khandekar, Director and Curator of the William I. Koch Collection, will present a comprehensive overview of the unpar­alleled collection of maritime paintings of American businessman and 1992 America’s Cup Winner, William I. Koch.
  • May 8: Jerry and Rome Kirby present “A Shared Passion: Father and Son America’s Cup Winners.”
