Rochester, Marion, Acushnet Fire Departments battle structure fire blaze on Stuart Road

“At approximately 0500 hours this morning, the Rochester fire department received a call from a homeowner on Stuart Road, reporting a structure fire with smoke and fire inside the house.

Upon arrival, firefighters found that the family had exited the house safely with their pets and fire was showing from outside the residence. Crews mounted an aggressive interior attack knocking the fire down quickly and preventing further extension into other parts of the house.

Crews worked on scene for approximately 45 minutes before calling the fire under control. There were no injuries reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Mutual aid companies from Mattapoisett Freetown Acushnet and Marion responded to provide assistance at the scene and station coverage for the town.

Rochester Police assisted at the scene. Please be advised that Stuart Road and Walnut plain Road will be inaccessible as firefighters are working to clear the scene.”-Rochester Fire Department.
