Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced today that a 41-year-old Fairhaven man was sentenced to serve seven to twelve-and-a-half years in state prison after pleading guilty to charges connected to two separate November 2013 bank robberies in Fairhaven and Fall River.

Timothy Aadland, of Fairhaven, pleaded guilty to charges of unarmed robbery (two counts), receiving a stolen motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle to endanger Monday in Fall River Superior Court. After accepting his plea, Judge William Sullivan order Mr. Aadland to state prison for a term of no less than seven years and no more than twelve-and-a-half years. Judge Sullivan also placed the defendant on supervised probation for three years, to commence upon his release from prison.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Maryclare Flynn.

On November 1, 2013, the defendant entered the Bank Five in Fairhaven with a note demanding money. He fled the bank after stealing $2,600. Then on November 13, 2013, the defendant entered the Bank Five on President Avenue in Fall River, where he handed the teller a note again demanding cash. The defendant fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash in a gray Hyundai, which had been reported stolen in New Bedford three days earlier.

Fairhaven and Fall River Police were able to utilize surveillance video from the banks and other businesses to identify Mr. Aadland as the suspect. Warrant issued for his arrest, and he was apprehended on November 19th after a Fairhaven Police Officer spotted the defendant driving in the stolen vehicle.

“This defendant is a repeat offender who deserved this substantial prison sentence.” said District Attorney Quinn.
