Rehoboth Man Charged in Connection to Fatal Shooting of 17-Year-old

An 18-year-old Rehoboth man has been charged early this morning with crimes related to the Tuesday night fatal shooting of a 17-year-old North Dighton male, Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III announced.

Joseph Medeiros will be arraigned Wednesday morning in Taunton District Court on charges of involuntary manslaughter, carrying an illegal firearm and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The deceased victim can now be publicly identified as 17-year-old Michael Pacheco, who resided at the 475 Forest Street home where he was fatally shot Tuesday evening.

Dighton Police received a 911 call from 475 Forest Street around 6:43 pm regarding a medical emergency involving a young man who was shot inside the home. When first responders arrived on scene, they rushed Mr. Pacheco to Morton Hospital in Taunton, where he was later pronounced dead.

The arraignment will be handled by Assistant District Attorney Robert Digiantomaso, who is coordinating the investigation. No further information about the facts of the case will be disseminated until the arraignment in open court.
