The City of New Bedford Police Department (Official) chased a suspect who allegedly had just robbed a bank and fled the scene. When he made it to Gomes School he was apprehended and is NOW in custody. The school had been aware of the entire situation and was operating under tight security.
The school and students are safe, but as a precaution there will be a continued police presence throughout the school day.
