Portobello in downtown New Bedford closes its doors after almost 3 years

Portobello Italian restaurant in downtown New Bedford closed its doors for good some time in June/July. The restaurant opened at the street level portion of the old Standard Times building in August of 2014. The closing was noticed just two weeks after Krush Fine Wines closed its doors on Purchase Street just a block away, begging the question: is there is a demand for fine food and wine downtown?

There aren’t any notices on the outside of the restaurant, but the inside is empty and the restaurant is actively being promoted as available by the New Bedford Economic Development Council.
