Police arrest Dartmouth man for breaking and entering to steal copper pipes

On Thursday, February 1, at approximately 6:08 a.m., Dartmouth Police responded to #8 Howard Street after the homeowner reported that a male was inside of his residence attempting to remove copper pipes.

Upon arrival, officers observed the male suspect flee from the residence.

After a brief foot chase, the male suspect was taken into custody and subsequently identified as Erik Paul Silvia, 39, of #19 Howard Street, Dartmouth, MA.

During the course of the investigation, it was also determined that Silvia had broken into a vehicle located on Oliver Street.

As a result of his arrest, Silvia was charged with felony breaking and entering (residence), felony breaking and entering (vehicle), and vandalism.

The arresting officer was Joshua Fredette.
