Early this morning, at approximately 5:35 a.m., a State Police cruiser was parked stationary in a construction zone on Interstate 84 Eastbound, when it was struck by two wheels/tires, that came off of a passing tractor-trailer, causing major damage to the cruiser. The trooper was not injured. The tractor-trailer did not stop at the scene. The wheels/tires came off of the tractor, not the trailer.

Investigators are currently seeking any information on this incident. If you were traveling on I-84 Eastbound, between 5:20 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., and you witnessed or have information, or if you see a tractor that is missing two wheels/tires as seen in the attached photos, please contact Trooper Scott Shea at the State Police Sturbridge Barracks at 508-347-3352.
