PACE is hiring in New Bedford for its Head Start Program for the following positions: Lead Teacher, Teacher & Classroom Specialist.

**TEACHER**

We are looking for candidates with a passion for working with children in an early learning environment with the following qualifications and skills:

• AA degree or CDA credential preferred. Experience in an early education and care setting or relevant human service setting;
• Nurturing and patient with children aged birth to 5 years;
• Must be comfortable communicating with families and co-workers in a professional manner;
• Assist with classroom management, daily routine and activities with children;
• Ability to work independently, yet function as a part of a team;
• Able to work with bi-cultural children and families; knowledgeable about child development, learning through play and developmentally appropriate practice;
• Bi-lingual desired;
• Must be able to pass CORI & DCF background checks.

*PACE Head Start Teachers are part of Local 1596 UAW (Union)

Head Start and Early Head Start provides family-centered development programming for over 264 income-eligible families with children from birth to age 5 living in the Greater New Bedford area.

SALARY: $16.00 per hour., 30 – 40 hours. per week, 52 weeks. per year

**LEAD TEACHER**

We are looking for candidates with a passion for working with children in an early learning environment with the following qualifications and skills:

• BA in Early Childhood Education or a related field required. EEC Lead Teacher qualified and experience in a pre-school classroom preferred;
• Nurturing and patient with children aged birth to 5 years, able to develop age appropriate lesson plans and implement engaging activities; familiarity with Early Childhood Assessments – preferably Teaching Strategies Gold;
• Oversee the daily classroom management, routine and activities, and support other classroom staff;
• Plan and implement activities and events to engage families in their child’s learning. Must be comfortable communicating with families, co-workers, and supervisors in a professional manner;
• Comfortable working with bi-cultural children and families as well as children of differing abilities; knowledgeable about child development, learning through play, developmentally appropriate practice and quality learning environments;
• Bi-lingual desired;
• Must be able to pass CORI & DCF background checks.

**CLASSROOM SPECIALIST**

We are looking for candidates with a passion for working with children in an early learning environment with the following qualifications and skills:
• BA in Early Childhood Education or a related field. EEC Director II qualified, supervision skills and experience in working with young children preferred;
• Knowledgeable about social-emotional development, child behavior, and using the Pyramid Model approaches to create plans that support self-regulation and pro-social intervention techniques for pre-school aged children;
• Able to plan and implement small group activities for at-risk children to support age appropriate problem-solving skills and social-emotional literacy;
• Oversee the referral system with a Mental Health Consultant, complete child assessments, and collect weekly data to support interventions;
• Able to work with educators to support classroom intervention strategies, improve classroom climate, and provide coaching and mentoring to develop targeted skills;
• Must be able to pass a CORI and DCF background checks.
