OPINION: Our schools are not places to “tough out the heat.”

“With the weather forecast of three days of heat/humidity at 90 degrees and the start of schools on Monday, August 27. My plea is for school administrators, principals and mayors to be aware of the effect on the children and teachers.

Some schools in Massachusetts have prepared by shortening the school day. Many of our schools have no air conditioning, and we remember well the recent heat wave. Our schools should be learning environments, not places to “tough out the heat”. – Laurel Walker‎
