New England Aquarium release 10 sea turtles into the wild after rescue and rehabilitation

“June 29th marked our first local turtle release of the season! ? ? ?

After several months of rehabilitation at our Sea Turtle Hospital in Quincy, MA, 10 sea turtles were released back into the ocean off Cape Cod! The group included five loggerheads, two Kemp’s ridleys, and three green sea turtles.

As part of our rescue and rehabilitation work, we will track and study the movement of these turtles through a combination of satellite and acoustic tags, which will provide valuable data about where the turtles swim, feed, and travel—all critical information we can use to help protect these species.” -New England Aquarium.
