New Bedford Guide Your Guide to New Bedford and South Coast, MA
Ryan McCarthy, 17, a 2020 Graduate of New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, and son of Kellie and Michael McCarthy has won the Your Theatre, Inc. Mary A. Smith Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to students demonstrating a talent and desire to pursue a career in the performing arts. Mr. McCarthy will be attending Salem State University majoring in theatre arts.
Ryan was active in the GNBRVT High School Drama Club for four years during which he was in several major productions. He has also participated in New Bedford Festival Theatre’s intern program. Additionally, Ryan performed in the production of Pinocchio at the Little Theatre of Fall River.
Now in its 74th season, YTI is incorporated as a non-profit community theatre which seeks to enhance the cultural life of New Bedford, Southeastern Massachusetts, and nearby communities through the study and regular presentation of dramatic productions and other programs of high quality and professional standards. The company also develops and encourages artistic talent through the establishment and operation of workshops, theatre productions and other dramatic training opportunities.
