New Bedford’s “Sassaquin House of Pizza” permanently closes doors after 17 years

The Sassaquinn House of Pizza located at 4326 Acushnet Ave New Bedford, announced that it would be permanently closing its doors.

A sign posted on the entrance to the restaurant stated “We will be closing shop on Friday, August 19th. It has been our pleasure to serve this community and greatly appreciate our customers for your continued loyalty and business. Thank you for a great 17 years!”

Many people were unaware that the business closed its doors as their only social media account, is on Facebook, but has not been used since August of 2021. Their website only consists of 2 images of their menu with nowhere to post information.

Customers only found out after calling the restaurant to place an order and no one picked up the phone. One customer, Jason Wellsenbrazen, stopped by the restaurant in person to place and order and that is when he saw the sign on the door.

“I just tried to place an order with one of my favorite local places to grab a sandwich, and saw this. It’s always sad to see another local business go down.

Truth be told, I wasn’t a huge fan of their pizza, but they made a great sandwich and a nice salad as well. That antipasto, couldn’t go wrong! RIP Sassaquin Pizza.”
