New Bedford’s Pa Raffas concerned new Cumberland Farms will cause traffic problems

Pa Raffas took to Facebook to ask residents to attend a December planning board meeting because of a new Cumberland Farms planned across the street from their business:

“To all of our North End Neighbors: We have heard rumors for months about the Cumberland Farms plans for the lot across from the restaurant. Now it’s official they are looking to put in a full-size store, gas pumps and a car wash.

We like new neighbors, but the extra 100 cars per hour pulling in and out of driveways at this already overcrowded intersection sounds like a big hot mess.

If you are concerned about this traffic nightmare, please come to the December Planning Board Meeting on Wednesday, December 12, 6pm at City Hall to make sure our concerns are heard. Once approved there is nothing we can do to improve this traffic pattern without enormous cost to the city. Now back to our regularly scheduled pizza making!”
