New Bedford’s “Operation Clean Sweep” September clean up event and volunteer celebration

WHEN: Saturday, September 18 from 9:00 am – noon
WHERE: Meet at the Harbor Walk parking lot, 126-128 Gifford St, New Bedford.

SCHEDULE:
• 9:00 – Coffee & Doughnuts
• 9:00-11:00 – Cleanup South End
• 11:00 – Raffle
• 11:30 – Pizza
• 12:00-2:30 – Optional Visit to Palmer Island

FREE t-shirts, breakfast, lunch, and a raffle ticket to all volunteers!

• Gloves and tools provided
• Wear closed-toe shoes
• Bring a reusable water bottle
• If unvaccinated, wear a mask
• Review the safety notes
• Optional: Bring a blanket or chair

Waste Reduction Giveaways

Have you considered reducing waste in your home with a shampoo bar or a Stasher reusable sandwich bag? Here’s your chance to win such an item in a series of monthly giveaways from the Greater New Bedford Regional Refuse Management District.

The following is a summary of the schedule for the monthly giveaways:

• September 1st: Reusable metal water bottle
• October 1st: Reusable sandwich and snack bag
• November 1st: Low waste cleaning kit
• December 1st: Shampoo and conditioner bar set
• January 1st: Reusable bag
• February 1st: Reusable notebook
• March 1st: Set of reusable cotton produce bags

On the first day of each month, the link to an online entry form will be posted on the following:

• Instagram @newbedfordrecycling
• Twitter @NBRecycling

To enter one of the giveaways, residents will need to complete the entry form by the 8th of that month.
