New Bedford’s “Guns for Groceries” recovers 85 guns, 2,000 rounds of ammo

Over 85 guns and 2,000 rounds of ammunition were recovered during the “Guns for Groceries” event that took place on Saturday at the Pilgrim United Church of Christ in New Bedford. From The Inter-Church Council of Greater New Bedford:

“Guns for Groceries in memory of Dr. Rev. Robert Lawrence. Over 30 handguns, 2000 rounds of ammunition with a total 85 guns collected. Gunlocks donated by the Vets Center handed out. It’s all about safety and securing our community. There has been a higher rate of suicide by gun in the state this year. Thanks also go out to the NBPD, UMD’S Leduc Center, Southcoast Health, former mayor Scott Lang, Domino’s Pizza and our chaplains who help make it all happen!”

Fall River had a successful guns for groceries event too.
