New Bedford woman overdoses twice in a 24 hour period

A 47-year old New Bedford woman living on State Road overdosed on heroin twice in a 24-hour period. 

According to New Bedford Police reports, her first overdose occurred at 6:01pm on Monday, 26 December. Police and EMS arrived and administered Narcan to revive her.  Her second overdose occurred with a 46-year old New Bedford man at 3:39pm on Tuesday, 27 December. Both were sent to the hospital for treatment. 

New Bedford has been averaging a few heroin overdoses per day with four overdoses happening in a 24-hour period on 26 and 27 December. A 66-year old man needed three doses of Narcan to be revived. 

A 26-year old Carver man overdosed at Market Basket on 122 Sawyer Street at 1:07PM on Wednesday, 27 December bringing the total number to seven overdoses in a 48 hour period.
