On Thursday evening at approximately 5:30pm, members of the Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau executed a search warrant at on Hemlock St. in the city’s south end. The target of the investigation being Rany Pimental whom detectives had reason to believe was unlawfully in possession of firearms.
This was the result of an investigation conducted by Det. Jarrod Gracia of the OCIB unit. The target was taken into custody without incident as she left her home.
Detectives were able to locate two firearms, a Taurus .357 revolver and a Luger 9 millimeter Tec-9, underneath the target’s bed. Also recovered were 15 rounds of 9 millimeter ammunition. The Tec-9 was reported stolen from a resident in Dartmouth and the Taurus is in the process of being traced.
Ms. Pimental does not possess a license to carry firearms.
So far this year the OCIB unit has recovered 32 firearms and have arrested 29 people who were unlawfully in possession of them.
Arraigned this morning in New Bedford district court on various firearms charges is 25 year old Rany Pimental who resides at the Hemlock St. address.
